Main shaft bearing

The main shaft bearing is a critical component connecting the wind turbine's main shaft to the nacelle. It supports the rotation of the main shaft (typically at 10-20 RPM) and transmits the torque generated by the wind energy captured by the blades to the gearbox (or directly to the generator in direct-drive systems).

Performance Requirements
Property / Characteristic Description / Requirement Typical Material / Condition
Material High-carbon chromium-bearing steel GCr15, 100CrMnSi8-4-6
Hardness & Wear Resistance High surface hardness (58-62 HRC) and superior wear resistance Achieved through hardening and tempering
Fatigue Strength & Stability Excellent contact fatigue strength and dimensional stability; uniform and dense microstructure to prevent premature failure Requires strict control of inclusions and segregation
