Gearbox rings

In doubly-fed or semi-direct-drive wind turbines, the gearbox is responsible for increasing the low-speed rotation of the main shaft (~10 RPM) to the high-speed rotation required by the generator (~1500 RPM). Key components such as the planetary gear ring, internal gear ring, and high-speed shaft flange are typically ring forgings, enduring tremendous transmission torque and impact loads.
