Composition characteristics: Aluminum-copper alloy (Cu content typically 3.5–4.5%), with small amounts of manganese (Mn) and magnesium (Mg) as auxiliary elements. It is a heat-treatable aluminum alloy whose strength is mainly enhanced via precipitation hardening. It features high strength, good fatigue resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance; corrosion resistance can be improved with surface treatment.
Application area: Aerospace structures (fuselage, wing skins), high-strength pressure vessels, railway and automotive components, defense equipment, and other structural parts requiring a high strength-to-weight ratio.
